Job Summary:
The Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems including copper and fiber optic cabling, network racks, patch panels, and related infrastructure. The role ensures reliable connectivity for data, voice, and video communications within commercial, residential, or industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cables according to industry standards.
• Set up and organize network racks, patch panels, and cabling pathways.
• Perform cable testing, troubleshooting, and certification to ensure connectivity and performance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of cabling layouts, test results, and network schematics.
• Work closely with IT teams, project managers, and vendors to support network deployment projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
• Assist in upgrading and relocating cabling systems as needed.
Qualifications:
• Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, IT, or related field.
• Proven experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, and network installation.
• Knowledge of network standards (TIA/EIA), cable testing tools, and safety protocols.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
• Certification in Fiber Optics (FOA, BICSI, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with data centers, LAN/WAN infrastructure, and telecom systems.
• Physically fit to handle cabling in ceilings, trenches, and server rooms.
