Position Summary:
The Commis 1 – Baker & Pastry is responsible for supporting daily production of bakery and pastry items. This role ensures consistency, quality, and proper preparation of ingredients and finished products under the supervision of senior chefs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in preparing and producing bakery and pastry items such as breads, rolls, cakes, tarts, cookies, and other desserts.
• Follow recipes, production schedules, and standard operating procedures.
• Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients accurately.
• Support the CDP and Pastry Chef in daily tasks and special orders.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery and pastry workstations.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of all food items.
• Assist in decorating and finishing pastry items when required.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene at all times.
• Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofers safely.
• Report any issues with ingredients, equipment, or product quality to senior chefs.
Requirements & Qualifications:
• Experience in bakery or pastry preparation (hotel/restaurant/bakery experience preferred).
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques, dough preparation, and pastry work.
• Ability to follow instructions, recipes, and safety guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Team player with a positive attitude.
• Certificate or training in Baking & Pastry is an advantage.
